Noah

I contemplated building an ark last night because today was expected to bring (and has brought) a ton of rain. Compound that rain on top of the near 68 inches of snow that Chicago has had thus far this season (and has not melted due to the absurdly low temps) and the situation was ripe for flooding! Outside it is just dreary. A dreadful mess of brown, murky, water that leaves me with visions of the three months of bad sledding weather that the midwest is entitled to come June, July, and August. Anyhoo, when I came into work today, I found some beautiful WHITE Chocolate Oreos on my desk. Thanks Tom! You are so awesome. Tom carried these beauties all the way back from Vienna!

I have the best colleagues. This makes me happy!!!

Other things that make people happy today include:
“Doggie kisses”
“My boyfriend”
“My friend, Ana” **secret – Ana makes me happy, too!**
“Waking up next to my son, Alarik”

Happiness

It seems of late that people who do not know me well see my Oreo stash and ask me what it’s all about. So I tell them. And then they ask, “and you just share them with everyone?” To which I reply, “Of course!” And then they ask, “Why?” and I respond by describing the happiness it brings us all…even if for a mere sixty seconds. But a handful of times over the past few weeks, after my explanation, some people just shrug, or roll their eyes, or just say, “that makes no sense.” What the what?!?! Are you KIDDING me? You don’t want to make others happy? Even if it comes from a gesture as simple as sharing cookies? Now THAT makes no sense.

In the immortal words of J.M. Barrie…Those who bring sunshine into the lives of others, cannot keep it from themselves.

It doesn’t matter what day it is when Oreos bring people together

So when I told the crew yesterday morning that the new Oreos had come home, they appeared at my magical Oreo Office door faster than you can say, “Cookie Dough and Marshmallow Crispy Oreos.”

It really is magical…the way Oreos bring people together. It’s been snowing a ton and polar vortexing all over the place but when there’s Oreos, none of that matters.

Other people tried the Oreos but declined the photo op for fear of a paparazzi swoon.

The consenus is that the marshmallow crispy ones are better than the cookie dough. Funny enough, each and every one of us was looking forward to the cookie dough more than the marshmallow crispy. However, we just could not help but fall in love with the abundant sweetness of the marshmallowy creme complemented by actual pieces of crispy rice!

Everything about this experience makes me happy.
