Liquidation
Today, I am liquidating. There are just so many Oreos that we cannot get through them fast enough and I fear that they will go to waste.
I have begun putting them in the common area of my office. As I was walking over to the common area with some Oreos in tow, someone asked me if they are for everyone and when I said, “yes,” she became really happy. And thus the happiness sharing continues…

Reese’s Day
Please do let my prolonged absence in any way represent my borderline obsession with Oreos. In fact, if anything my pregnancy hormones have only done wonders to my craving for sugary creme sandwiched in between yummy cookies. Although I cannot make any excuses for my failure to blog, there really weren’t any awesome flavors that had come out…Until Today!!! Well, technically June 9th is when the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Oreos were released but I was unable to get my hands on them. Mama to the rescue…She shipped them from Florida and they are now here. For good measure, she threw in the Fruitpunch Oreos as I was also unable to locate these gems. I will be holding new limited edition Oreo flavor taste tests throughout the week and will keep you posted on everyone’s thoughts as well as what makes them happy.
It’s Working!
It came to my attention yesterday that another department, on a completely separate floor, in my building has “copied” the Magical Oreo Office. When others got wind of this “copycat,” they asked me if I was annoyed or offended that someone took my idea and didn’t even tell me! Of course I am not annoyed or mad or offended or what have you. If anything, I am ecstatic! The Oreo Happiness is SPREADING! How exciting. When I asked the “copycats” what prompted them to start an Oreo Office, I was told it was to bring the team together to share the experience of trying new Oreo flavors. I am so happy for them!
In other news, we got some spring Oreos here now and the most quoted happiness remark when someone takes one is, “Spring makes me happy!”
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday, Oreo!
I love you.
Muuuuaaaah!
Noah
I contemplated building an ark last night because today was expected to bring (and has brought) a ton of rain. Compound that rain on top of the near 68 inches of snow that Chicago has had thus far this season (and has not melted due to the absurdly low temps) and the situation was ripe for flooding! Outside it is just dreary. A dreadful mess of brown, murky, water that leaves me with visions of the three months of bad sledding weather that the midwest is entitled to come June, July, and August. Anyhoo, when I came into work today, I found some beautiful WHITE Chocolate Oreos on my desk. Thanks Tom! You are so awesome. Tom carried these beauties all the way back from Vienna!
I have the best colleagues. This makes me happy!!!
Other things that make people happy today include:
“Doggie kisses”
“My boyfriend”
“My friend, Ana” **secret – Ana makes me happy, too!**
“Waking up next to my son, Alarik”
Happiness
It seems of late that people who do not know me well see my Oreo stash and ask me what it’s all about. So I tell them. And then they ask, “and you just share them with everyone?” To which I reply, “Of course!” And then they ask, “Why?” and I respond by describing the happiness it brings us all…even if for a mere sixty seconds. But a handful of times over the past few weeks, after my explanation, some people just shrug, or roll their eyes, or just say, “that makes no sense.” What the what?!?! Are you KIDDING me? You don’t want to make others happy? Even if it comes from a gesture as simple as sharing cookies? Now THAT makes no sense.
In the immortal words of J.M. Barrie…Those who bring sunshine into the lives of others, cannot keep it from themselves.
It doesn’t matter what day it is when Oreos bring people together
So when I told the crew yesterday morning that the new Oreos had come home, they appeared at my magical Oreo Office door faster than you can say, “Cookie Dough and Marshmallow Crispy Oreos.”
It really is magical…the way Oreos bring people together. It’s been snowing a ton and polar vortexing all over the place but when there’s Oreos, none of that matters.
Other people tried the Oreos but declined the photo op for fear of a paparazzi swoon.
The consenus is that the marshmallow crispy ones are better than the cookie dough. Funny enough, each and every one of us was looking forward to the cookie dough more than the marshmallow crispy. However, we just could not help but fall in love with the abundant sweetness of the marshmallowy creme complemented by actual pieces of crispy rice!
Everything about this experience makes me happy.
Finally Fiona!!
Day 39 (even though it was a long time ago)
It has been entirely too long since I have shared the ways in which Oreos continue to make people happy. But I promise, PROMISE, the mission is still going strong.
The flavors from Taiwan have arrived!
Thanks T-dawg!
But for sure the bigger news is the two new Oreo flavors:

Oh man, so many people are happy already and they haven’t even tried the flavors.
More to come.
